The Korean Society of Clinical Neurophysiology (KSCN) is an academic organization dedicated to diagnosing and evaluating neurophysiological disorders in central and peripheral nerve system function.

Since it started back in December 14, 1996, the KSCN has put a huge amount of effort in promoting academic exchange and collaborations between our members and advancing practical clinical skills through exchanging research information and clinical guides needed for systematic research on a wide range of clinical technologies that have been employed by our members--such as NCS (nerve conduction velocity), EMG (electromyogram), EEG (electroencephalogram), EP (evoked potential), TCD (transcranial Doppler ultrasonography), PSG (polysomnography), ENG (electronystagmography), TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation), and magnetoencephalography-- while publishing journals covering a variety of research results.

We have recently expanded our presence in neurophysiology in a proactive fashion by establishing two special committees: One is the Intraoperative Neurophysiology Supervision Committee (chaired by Prof. Juhan Kim) that oversees the development of systematic clinical research programs with respect to various neurophysiological monitoring measures taken by hospital, academic agendas, and insurance issues; and the other is the Ethics Committee (chaired by Prof. Kwangguk Kim, a KSCN advisor) to meet the need for establishing and arranging regulations such as disciplinary measures against those violating research work ethics.

Since its foundation in 1996 as a member of the International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology (IFCN), the KSCN has made huge strides in a relatively short period of time thanks to the proactive participation of many KSCN members and the dedication of our executive staff. In addition, as a member of IFCN, the KSCN set the stage for taking a giant leap forward in academic terms by virtue of successfully hosting the 2009 AOCCN (Asian and Oceania Congress of Child Neurology) in Seoul under the leadership of Prof. Kwangwoo Lee and Juhan Kim.

The KSCN has laid the foundations for the advancement of clinical neurophysiology over the last 17 years, and is also striving to attain the highest level of knowledge in keeping with the expansion of neurophysiology into new areas. In this regard, the KSCN is focusing on offering a greater number of presentations and academic events both at home and abroad. Moreover, we also believe that it is important for the KSCN Journal to grow in quality as a major international journal.

The KSCN joined the Korean Neurological Association as an affiliate, and has been commissioned to host spring and autumn academic forums in accordance with the recently revised KNA policy. To promote the diversification of academic forums and the sharing of practical techniques in clinical neurophysiology, we will make our utmost effort in providing more diverse forms of workshops and neurophysiological articles to better serve the educational needs of all KSCN members, offering more presentations (in the form of lectures and posters), and encouraging submission of manuscripts to the KSCN Journal.

As President of the KSCN, I shall be fully committed to the roles and responsibilities during my tenure. It is my earnest hope that all KSCN members and executive staff will drive the growth and prosperity of the KSCN with a genuine interest and through proactive engagement and cooperation.

Thank you.

KSCN President
