History
Despite the growing number of academic exchanges and worldwide interest in neurophysiology, such as a slew of clinical neurophysiology forums that have been hosted on a regular basis by the International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology (IFCN) in the U.S. and Europe over the last 30 years since its foundation, in addition to the international clinical neurophysiology symposiums that have been held every other year over the last decade in the Asia-Pacific region, there has been no dedicated academic society that can take the lead in academic exchange in areas of interest and help advance the clinical neurophysiology community in Korea.
To address these issues, the Korean Society of Clinical Neurophysiology (KSCN) was established with the aim of advancing neurophysiology research in a more systematic fashion, encouraging academic exchange, and helping researchers share ideas and work closely together in assessing and studying neurological disorders and nerve system functions in an objective manner, including electromyogram, electroencephalogram, polysomnography, electronystagmography, electroretinogram, and more.
The KSCN was founded in 14th December 1996 in the auditorium in Pavilion A of Seoul National University Hospital.
The highly successful AOCCN 2009, hosted by the KSCN in Seoul, served a stepping stone for it to play a greater academic role as an IFCN member.
Today, the KSCN has grown into an organization with a membership of 1,000.
